Three months after my vision correction surgery, my eyesight has finally stabilized, so I thought it was time to share my experience.
Eight years ago, I underwent laser vision correction for more than -10.00 diopters of myopia. Unfortunately, my nearsightedness gradually returned, leaving me with more than -7.00 diopters of myopia and astigmatism. Even worse, I had been living with double vision (diplopia) for the past four years. Everything I looked at appeared duplicated, making both work and daily life extremely frustrating.

I was amazed that Phakic ICL surgery completely resolved my double vision at Hong Ngoc Eye Center
Before my consultation, I was extremely anxious. I knew that not every eye is suitable for a second refractive procedure, and not every eye center is able to perform one safely. My mother and I eventually visited Hong Ngoc Eye Center, where Dr. Hoang Anh carefully examined my eyes and recommended Phakic ICL surgery as the most appropriate treatment option.
The surgery itself was quick. Immediately afterward, my eyes felt gritty and uncomfortable, with some pain and excessive tearing. However, what surprised me the most was the improvement I noticed just one day later. The biggest change was that my double vision was completely gone. I still don’t know exactly how the doctor calculated everything so precisely, but my diplopia disappeared. My vision reached 20/20 (10/10), becoming clearer and more stable with each passing day. The constant eye strain, dizziness, and discomfort that had troubled me for years also disappeared. My family was so overjoyed with the outcome that we actually celebrated together. Who would have imagined that a single surgery could solve two vision problems at once?
What impressed me the most was the way the doctor explained my eye condition in detail and provided a clear treatment plan instead of rushing into surgery. Because I tend to panic easily, the doctor’s calm reassurance helped me feel much more confident throughout the process. After surgery, I received close follow-up care and was offered five years of complimentary follow-up examinations, which gave me great peace of mind. As a nice bonus, I was even treated to a delicious Western meal on the hospital’s 14th floor after my procedure.
Looking back, I remember crying from fear as soon as I entered the operating room. So if you’re still afraid of vision correction surgery, my advice is simple: choose a reputable eye center and trust your surgeon. After spending years struggling with poor vision, being able to see clearly again is something I truly cherish. Thank you so much to the hospital and all the doctors for giving me a new beginning.
