Ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) is a diagnostic tool that has been widely used by ophthalmologists for many years in the evaluation and monitoring of conditions such as glaucoma, corneal diseases, and more. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into UBM has opened a new advancement in clinical practice, especially in personalized Phakic ICL surgery.

UBM AI technology elevates ultrasound biomicroscopy by enabling maximum personalization in Phakic ICL surgery. It allows precise measurement and calculation of the appropriate ICL size for each patient; assessment of lens position after surgery; monitoring of lens changes over time; and determination of the safe distance between the posterior surface of the ICL and the anterior surface of the crystalline lens (a safety threshold based on each patient’s ocular anatomy). These data help minimize the risk of complications and optimize treatment outcomes for each individual case.
